Frequently Asked Questions

  • Osteopathy is a holistic practice that increases health across all body systems. It does this by increasing blood flow, improving joint mobility, relieving muscle tension and normalizing areas in our bodies that aren’t able to properly function.

Practically speaking, if you’ve got pain or restriction in your body; perhaps a spasm in the neck that’s painful and keeps you from being able to shoulder check, regular headaches, or even digestive blockages, osteopathy is likely to be able to help.

  • No. Osteopathy is known as a ‘soft medicine’ and the comfort of the client is primordial. There are always multiple options of testing and treating for every problem, so if one direction isn’t comfortable, there’s always another way to do things.

  • Prices start at $110/ hr for osteopathy and $115/hr for massage or combo, although generally the longer the session, the cheaper per minute the treatment will be.

  • Yes! I’m insured with Ostéopathie Québec (OQ) for osteopathy and with the Fédération québécoise des massothérapeutes (FQM) for massage.

  • For osteopathy, it’s best to wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in such as leggings or shorts and a T-shirt. Skin to skin is ideal, but I’m comfortable working over clothes so it’s never necessary to undress.

Massage needs to be skin to skin, so you will need to be undressed and under the massage sheets for this service. Keeping underwear on is optional.

  • For osteopathy, I start with a brief interview to identify the issues that need to be addressed in the session, followed by a series of tests to determine what structures need to receive treatment and in what order. I then start doing techniques to address each area and finish up with some integrations to solidify the session.

For massage, the interview is usually quicker, and we get into the treatment phase much faster. The advantage of this is more hands-on time, although the lack of testing means there will inherently be a less specific intervention.

For combo sessions, I always start off with my osteopathic approach as described above and then finish with the massage.

  • This is always a tricky question to answer and depends on a few variables such as how it started, what structures are affected, how long it’s been an issue for, what the client is doing to help or hinder their healing process outside of treatment time, along with their general condition.

It’s always nice when all it takes is one treatment and everything is back to normal, and while this does happen often enough, this is not the case for every issue.

While I can’t promise results following a specific number of sessions, I can promise that I will do my best at every session to accelerate your natural healing process as much as I can.
